Athletics

The mission of the Tenino School District Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as provide support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater relationships within our schools and community.

Tenino School District has a rich and storied history in athletics, and we strive to continue those traditions today. At the high school level, we offer boys soccer, girls soccer, tennis, volleyball, football, wrestling, cheerleading, fast pitch, baseball, cross-country, and track. The middle school level offers football, girls soccer, volleyball, wrestling, track, and cross-country.

We post all Tenino High School game schedules on our league website. TMS can provide all middle school game schedules. Did you know that Washington students who participate in athletics and other extracurricular activities typically have higher grade point averages, fewer absences, and fewer disciplinary problems than those who do not?

Every time a person from our community attends a school sporting event, not only are they supporting the youth in our community, they are also adding needed operating income to their school’s budget athletics.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, in partnership with the Washington Secondary School Athletics Administrators Association, hopes you understand the essential role that school athletics and activities play in providing teenagers with a complete educational experience. They also address other areas of concern in our community – like the importance of practicing good sportsmanship, leadership, responsibility, and integrity.

Most people can agree that the most valuable resource we have here in Tenino is our young people. If we teach them, nurture them, and give them the tools they need to succeed to their highest potential—the potential of our town knows no bounds. We design our programs to help them accomplish that goal.
